Hayley Wickenheiser
Born to Play
Called the greatest female hockey player in the world, Hayley Wickenheiser skated into history in 2003 as the first female player to score a point in a men's professional game with the Kirkkonummen Salamat in the Finnish hockey league.
The achievement came shortly after Wickenheiser led Team Canada to a gold medal victory in the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, where she was the leading scorer and tournament MVP.
Chosen for the national team at the young age of 15, Wickenheiser has also won five gold medals and one silver in the World Hockey Championships and a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. The Hockey News has named her as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Hockey People numerous times.
In Wickenheiser's own words, "Work hard and smart, and remember NO EXCUSES!" Good advice from a great athlete that will bring about success in any arena.
