Summary Profile

Dr. Art Hister graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in 1970. In 1971 he moved across the country to Vancouver to become the first full-time physician with the Pine Free Clinic, the first Canadian clinic established to deal exclusively with transient youth. Dr. Hister left the Pine Free Clinic in 1977 to enter private practice.

In 1991, Dr. Hister became a full-time media doctor. Dr. Hister has been a correspondent for CBC Newsworld and BBC Radio 5 and is currently a daily health analyst on the Morning News on Global TV in BC, a weekly contributor to Global TV’s Thursday Noon News and Saturday Weekend News, as well as the host and writer of A Medical Minute with Dr. Art Hister heard daily on CKNW Newstalk Radio.

Dr. Hister is also the author of two Canadian bestsellers, Midlife Man and Dr. Art Hister’s Guide to a Longer and Healthier Life, as well as numerous articles for publications such as Reader’s Digest, The Globe and Mail, and The Medical Post.

Dr. Hister is the past honorary chairman of the BC Alzheimer’s Society Walk for Memories, past Volunteer of the Year for the Canadian Diabetes Association and currently sits on the Board of Governors of the Vancouver Holocaust Educational Centre.
