NSB Speaker Hayley Wickenheiser to Kick off Olympics for Canada

The world is turning its collective gaze towards Sochi, Russia as we begin the 22nd Winter Olympics. Several competitions have already commenced including slopestyle snowboarding, freestyle skiing and figure skating. Friday morning signals the grand kick off with opening ceremonies. Canada will be led into the Fisht Olympic Stadium by NSB Speaker Hayley Wickenheiser. A legend in the world of hockey, Hayley is already one of the most medaled Olympic hockey players with three gold and one silver to her name. She also made hockey history when she became the first female to notch a point in a men’s professional game. Hayley on how she plans to savour the moment:

“Just going to enjoy it and take it all in and… honour the fact that I have this opportunity.”

Having already played on the Canadian national team for roughly half her life, many are speculating this sixth Olympic games (five for hockey, one for softball) could be her last. Ever the competitor, Hayley refuses to concede what many are speculating due to the intense competitive fire burning within her.

Hayley is just one of the amazing Olympic speakers on NSBs roster. Be sure to keep an eye on our NSBlog and Twitter Feed for updates on our athletes as they look to capture hardware in their respective competitions. Go Team Canada!
