Olympic Spirit For A Fraction of the Cost

The 6th in our Series Featuring the Olympics Hot Topic

You may have seen the recent larger-than-life posters featuring Canadian sprint canoer Adam van Koeverden at your local Roots store or the previous McDonald’s TV commercials featuring Canadian diver Alexandre Despatie. Wherever you look, organizations are aligning themselves with Canada’s Olympic best. And while not every company has the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed to sponsor an athlete, you can bring the power and inspiration of the Olympic Games to clients and employees for much, much less! Consider these NSB Olympians to speak at your next event.

Adam van Koeverden Adam van Koeverdenis one of the best sprint canoers in the world, winning three medals in the last two Summer Olympics. He proudly carried the Canadian flag during the opening ceremonies at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Now a three-time Olympic medalist, he is considered to be one of the best platform and springboard divers in the world. Despatie is always a fan favourite because of his charming personality.

Dick PoundNo one knows the Olympics inside and out more than Dick Pound. A former athlete, Pound found his calling as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) where he became the mastermind of selling the value of the Olympic rings to advertisers. His efforts turned the losing Olympic brand into the richest sports organization in the world.

Clara HughesThis winter, all eyes will be on Olympic speed skater, Clara Hughes, as she goes for gold in Vancouver. An elite athlete at everything she does, Hughes is the only Canadian to win medals at both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Hughes won bronze as a cyclist in the Summer Games before returning to her first sporting love – speed skating.
