  • Dr. Danny represents the quintessential thought leader. His brilliant balance of head and heart; brains and compassion are a rare treasure that he puts to use daily to impact the future of healthcare. He is equally at home in front of a CEO, a concerned parent or a frenetic entrepreneur. In fact, I recently asked him to lead a discussion at global entrepreneur summit at MIT and he was rated an impressive 9.7 out of 10. The future of healthcare is a noble challenge. The fact that Dr. Danny has taken this challenge on with both his head and his heart, makes me feel incredibly strong.

  • Dr. Daniel Friedland was a tremendous asset to the 2012 Conscious Capitalism CEO Summit. He energized and delighted our group. His presentation was the second highest rated by participants (second only to Whole Foods Market co-CEO Walter Robb) and his practicum was the highest rated out of six. I highly recommend Dr. Friedland and his work.

    - Director, Conscious Capitalism Inc.
  • Dr. Friedland’s program was timely, intellectually stimulating and actionable. It made sense and helped the executives better understand how the brain functions in times of stress and its impact on the health of the workforce. In short, it provided great insight and a roadmap for stress in the workplace and in life. I highly recommend Dr. Friedland.

  • Dr. Friedland is a dynamic physician leader and speaker in the field of supporting individuals, groups and organizations in area of transitions and resiliency through his simple and compelling explanation of the neuroscience of change. He effectively communicates and connects with audiences through effective materials and passion. The best part of his program is how he leads one to the place of discovering what is truly important in one’s life.

    - Medical Director of Human Resources and Compliance of Group Health
  • He gave his keynote, not as another thought leader, but an intimate friend to our wellness community that understood our journey, drive, and passion. This intimacy gave life to his words through the stories he weaved about daily achieving peak performance through a framework that enables individuals to navigate stress and optimize their health, relationships, and productivity. At the end of his keynote, he paused, gave a Zen bow, that was followed by a spontaneous standing ovation, a fitting end to our conference. Are you looking for a keynote to engage and empower? I highly recommend Dr. Friedland.

Summary Profile

As Founder & CEO of SuperSmartHealth and the Chair of the largest integrative health organization in the country, Daniel helps people harness and leverage stress to become a motivating energy source so they can resolve conflicts, collaborate, get more done, continually innovate and find greater success and significance at work and at home.

His talks on Leading Well From Within, Conscious Leadership and Transforming Burnout into Resilience are evidence-based with a solid foundation in neuroscience and mindfulness practice, and are presented with inspiring and entertaining stories and a warm, engaging human touch.

An internationally recognized thought leader and a passionate and dynamic keynote speaker, educator, coach and consultant on Leadership Development, Culture Transformation, Stress Management, Resilience, Wellness Empowerment and Evidence-Based Medicine, Daniel has worked with diverse businesses, healthcare and nonprofit organizations such as: Genentech, Bridgepoint Education, The Kaiser Permanente Federation, Group Health, Blue Cross, the US Army, Navy, and Air Force, GlaxoSmithKline, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International, The YMCA, Interface, American Academy of Pediatricians, YPO, Conscious Capitalism, and leaders in the Texas state and Australian governments, as well as hospital systems, global wellness organizations and leading academic institutions – having delivered over 1500 presentations, reaching more than 75,000 health care and business professionals worldwide.

An immigrant from South Africa, Daniel graduated from University of California San Francisco (UCSF) medical school, where he also did his residency in Internal Medicine and a teaching Fellowship. He is the author of the first medical textbook published in the United States on Evidence Based Medicine – now the standard of care for all healthcare practitioners.

Daniel’s passion for his work on transforming burnout into resilience and conscious leadership originated in medical school. In his second year, Daniel experienced burnout and depression – a result of unmanaged stress – which could have ended his promising medical career. Instead, after discovering that over half of UCSF’s medical students were in therapy, he faced the challenge “head-on” and started up the UCSF Medical Student Network, to cultivate resiliency, leadership and the compassionate delivery of healthcare.

Since then, Daniel’s mission is to help people – whether healthcare professionals, business leaders, professionals or parents – discover how to harness and leverage stress, transform it into an energy source, and become more conscious, compassionate and effective leaders.
