Reinvention: How To Be A Step Ahead in a Changing World

The average person will change careers between three and seven times in their lifetime. So much time and energy is now devoted to transitioning from one job to another. Technology is turning our world upside down. The life span of a career has become as short as our attention spans. As quick as you can say “Squirrel,” your job has become irrelevant. You’ve been downsized. Your skills are outdated. Or the career path you chose no longer suits you. All of us are in a forced state of constant reinvention. It’s time to take control. Erica taps into her journey of reinvention with an emphasis shifting to a Success Mindset with hands-on strategies for audience members to be proactive and create the life they want in our constantly changing world.

Why Organizations Choose Erica Ehm

Organizations choose Erica when they want an event their audience will still be talking about the next morning. She’s a natural connector — someone who reads a room, draws people in, and leaves them with both laughter and genuine takeaways. For events focused on culture, belonging, reinvention, or navigating change, Erica’s combination of storytelling, warmth, and hard-won experience delivers something a traditional keynote rarely can.

Her entrepreneurial track record gives her real credibility with business audiences. As founder of niche publishing brand YMC.ca and digital agency Ehm & Co., Erica built profitable, award-winning companies that attracted the attention of a major retail buyer in 2022 — a transaction that saw her stay on as Chief Innovation Officer. That’s not a polished anecdote about resilience. It’s lived experience with building, scaling, and evolving a business under real pressure.

Erica also speaks to one of the defining tensions in today’s workplace: the epidemic of loneliness and the deep human need for genuine connection. Her message around community, kindness, and bold reinvention resonates across HR conferences, women’s leadership events, association gatherings, and any audience standing at an inflection point — professionally or personally.

Erica Ehm brings:

• A proven entrepreneurial track record, including a successful business acquisition in 2022
• Current executive role in financial services, building culture and brand story at DDM Group

Erica Ehm’s Biography

From MuchMusic to the Main Stage

Erica Ehm first became a household name as one of MuchMusic’s signature VJs — a role that put her in front of millions of Canadians and gave her thousands of hours of live television experience. Hundreds of artist interviews. Countless panels and live broadcasts. It was a training ground unlike any other, and it shaped a performer who is completely at ease on any stage, in any format, in front of any crowd.

That stage fluency was on full display when Erica was selected as the one-woman opening act for the sold-out Glass Tiger tour — described by audiences as part rock ‘n’ roll energy, part interactive keynote. Drawing on stories from MuchMusic’s early days and weaving in messages of empowerment, empathy, and possibility, it was exactly the kind of experience that defines her approach: engaging, personal, and impossible to ignore.

Entrepreneur, Community Builder & Award Winner

After MuchMusic, Erica built something entirely her own. As founder of YMC.ca (Yummy Mummy Club) and digital agency Ehm & Co., she pioneered niche content marketing and community building in Canada at a time when few understood what that even meant. Under her leadership, her companies earned a dozen prestigious marketing and publishing awards — a track record that caught the attention of a major retail buyer. In 2022, the owners of Toys ‘R Us Canada acquired her companies, with Erica continuing on as Chief Innovation Officer.

Her decade-plus work partnering with some of the world’s top brands to build community through content and social media established her as a genuine pioneer in the space. Her collaborations with research scientists to bring evidence-based information to parents — including the “It Doesn’t Have to Hurt” initiative — have been recognized as groundbreaking science-media partnerships. She also launched the Inside>Out Initiative, a not-for-profit focused on empowering youth.

Reinvention as a Practice — and a Philosophy

Today, Erica serves as Director of Culture & Communications at DDM Group, where she leads the development of brand stories and cultures of inspiration in the financial services sector. It’s the latest chapter in a career that has always been defined by the willingness to evolve — and the skill to bring others along on that journey.

Erica’s Bold Face approach explores what it means to reinvent with courage and intention. Her podcast, Reinvention of the VJ, gets personal with fellow MuchMusic personalities about the challenges of navigating change — with the entertaining anecdotes and honest insights that have made it a hit. As an author, songwriter, journalist, host, and speaker, Erica has built a multimedia career that reflects exactly what she talks about: the power of staying curious, staying connected, and saying yes to what comes next.
