Event Host & Conference Moderator

Jason Maghanoy brings rare combination of media authority, live event expertise, and natural stage presence to his work as a conference host and moderator. As Group Publisher at SJC Media overseeing Maclean’s, Canadian Business, and Toronto Life — three of Canada’s most recognized media brands — Jason has spent years leading high-profile conversations with executives, innovators, and policymakers on Canada’s most pressing issues. His background training at the National Theatre School of Canada gives him an instinct for pacing, audience engagement, and keeping complex conversations both substantive and accessible.

Event planners choose Jason when they need someone who can hold a room with credibility and warmth. He has hosted and moderated the Maclean’s Ideas Summit annually since 2023, leading fireside chats and panels with leaders from Microsoft Canada, Mastercard, Uber Canada, and Google Canada. Recent engagements include the 2026 Maclean’s Ideas Summit: The Year Ahead at The Selby in Toronto, where he guided a high-level conversation on AI, housing, and Canada’s national identity. His moderating style draws out genuine insight from speakers while keeping audiences engaged — a balance that comes from years of producing and hosting live events through SJC Media’s experiential arm, Wonder.

Jason is particularly well-suited for conferences focused on business innovation, Canadian leadership, technology and AI, media and communications, entrepreneurship, and national policy. He is available across Canada for summit hosting, panel moderation, awards ceremonies, and multi-session conference facilitation.
