At 10 years old, Mikaël Kingsbury didn’t know either — but he committed to the adventure anyway. Now the greatest moguls skier of all time, he has a story to share.

Mikaël Kingsbury took up mogul skiing at the age of eight, after learning to ski on the slopes of Quebec’s Laurentian Mountains. From the moment he burst onto the international scene at the age of just 18, Kingsbury had Olympic glory in his sights.
Kingsbury made his World Cup debut in January 2010 and was named that season‘s FIS World Cup Rookie of the Year. He earned his first World Cup victory in December 2010 when he was still just 18. In 2011-12, Kingsbury became the king of all freestyle skiers, winning the Crystal Globe as the overall World Cup champion. Not yet 20, he was the youngest male moguls skier to ever win a Crystal Globe. His remarkable season included a record 13 World Cup medals (eight gold, four silver, one bronze) as he reached the podium in every event he entered. That included a record-tying string of six straight moguls wins. Kingsbury’s podium streak continued in 2012-13 as he won the first five World Cup moguls events he entered, including the Sochi test event.
Kingsbury proudly stood alongside fellow Canadian icon Alex Bilodeau on the podium in Sochi with a 2014 Olympic silver medal as Canadians finished 1-2 during the competition. Four years later, Kingsbury had the fairy-tale ending to an outstanding year on the World Cup circuit, winning Olympic gold in PyeongChang.
Kingsbury has never missed the moguls podium at the FIS World Championships ever since his debut. In December 2015, he earned his 29th career World Cup victory, breaking the male moguls record and in 2017-18 he won his seventh straight Crystal Globe as the overall World Cup champion for both moguls and all of freestyle skiing. Even after fracturing his back just two months before the World Cup, Kingsbury won a gold medal in 2021, scoring 88.10 points. He currently has 64 career World Cup victories in 110 starts, has stood on the podium 92 times, and remains the reigning Olympic moguls champion.
He quickly proved himself to be a prolific competitor squarely focused on success. A combination of hard work, focused mindset and enjoyment of his craft has culminated in Kingsbury’s unprecedented success on the slopes.
